Nylon Plastic Sheet, Rod & Tube

Nylon plastic is a strong, machinable stiff mechanical and engineering thermoplastic with outstanding toughness, dimensional stability, and wear resistance. Nylon is perfectly suited for many bearing and wear applications throughout countless industries, especially where it can replace metal bearings and bushings, many times eliminating the need for external lubrication while reducing noise levels and friction.

Nylatron GS NylonComponents made from nylon plastic grades are also lightweight, quiet, and decrease wear on mating parts when compared with stainless steel and other metals.

Plastic Machining Company provides nylon in a variety of specialty grades. Oil-filled nylons, like popular MD grade and the Nyloil® line of nylon plastics, have enhanced wear and mechanical properties.

Cast nylon inherently has less stress versus extruded nylon. Lower moisture absorption gives cast nylon a higher dimensional stability, while the more crystalline structure of cast nylon gives it higher strength. Cast nylon performs in temperatures up to 70F degrees higher versus extruded. Nylatron NSM was developed for demanding applications where larger size parts are required.

Nylon comes in FDA compliant grades for food processing machinery and has a higher tensile strength as well as a higher ratio of stress to strain in flexural deformation. Nylon, UHMW, acetal and PEEK plastics all carry the advantage of resisting moisture, with near zero water absorption, while also resisting harsh chemicals and contaminants. Parts made from these materials do not rust like many metals and survive in the harshest of environmental conditions.
