Acetal & Delrin® Plastic Sheet, Rod & Tube

Acetal plastic, also known by the brand name Delrin®, is a mechanical thermoplastic used for precision close-tolerance industrial and mechanical components, featuring high strength and stiffness coupled with enhanced dimensional stability and ease of machining. As a semi-crystalline material, acetal is also characterized by a low coefficient of friction and good wear properties even in extremely cold environments.

Delrin SheetAcetal comes in a variety of grades to enhance specific features including static dissipative and PTFE blend grades. General purpose acetal is a copolymer plastic, while Delrin® has a homopolymer makeup.

Copolymer acetal plastic has no center-line porosity and performs better than standard Delrin® at elevated temperatures. It’s available in FDA compliant grades and features slightly increased resistance to chemicals, hot water, and high pH solutions versus Delrin® homopolymer acetal.

Homopolymer Delrin® acetal plastic features a higher crystallinity, providing better mechanical properties including tensile strength, creep resistance and impact strength. Delrin® demonstrates high strength and stiffness in addition to good dimensional stability and very low moisture absorption. Delrin® can operate in wet environments with little effect on performance and may see increased part life. Its natural grade is FDA, NSF and USDA compliant.
